Born and raised in New York City, Mitch, a self-taught musician, began performing professionally in 1971 in Ithaca, New York. Soon, he moved to Chicago where his original jazz and blues compositions blended with the Latin rhythm section of the New Earth Rhythm Band. Take a walk in New York City on a cool day, past the Village jazz clubs. Now, imagine a Jamaican parade threading past you, the reggae rhythms blending with the be-bop in a complex gust of wind. But then the sun comes out from behind a cloud and suddenly you feel warm. That is what his music is all about.
